About the event
Are you interested in beginning painting and would like some guidance in choosing an art medium? Or, perhaps you are already painting but would like to try your hand with a different medium? Ellen will be giving an introductory talk on some of the important differences between watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil and pastel.
The exhibit “Illuminated Palettes” is presented by the Southwest Region of the Vermont Pastel Society, a regional branch of The Vermont Pastel Society.
The society has met monthly for many years and serves as a supportive and creative resource for members. They are a varied group of artists, with interests in landscape, portraiture, still life and semi abstraction. And although these artists share a common passion for pastel, a number of the group members work with other art mediums as well—oils, acrylics, mixed media, even sculptures. This occasional foray into different media broadens them as artists and often brings a new understanding of what each medium can accomplish.
So it is in this spirit that they have decided to include in the current show both works in pastel and as well as works in other mediums. The Southwest Region of the Vermont Pastel Society is grateful to the Arlington Common for making this exhibit possible and giving the the opportunity to share our work with the community.
Free and open to the public.
