Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga
Tuesdays 9:00-10:00am with Emily
Thursdays 9:00-10:00am with Kol

​Hatha is a style of yoga that uses held poses and focuses on alignment, breath, and quieting the mind. It is all about balancing opposites, countering movement with rest. This class is taught to all levels with many opportunities for a more challenging or gentle experience. Bring a yoga mat, blocks, and yoga strap if you have them. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable moving in. 

Tai Chi
Mondays 4:00-5:00pm with Nelson

Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient martial art that involves slow, fluid choreography designed to develop balance, strength, body awareness, muscle memory, proper posture, and relaxation. Classes begin with a brief meditation and some Chi Kung exercises, which help prepare students for form practice. Class is taught in the Yang family style of short and long forms, and the instructor is prepared to accommodate students of all levels. Comfortable clothes required; please no street shoes.

Chair Yoga for All
Mondays 10:00-11:00am with Pam
Wednesdays 11:00-12:00pm with Pam

Gain all the benefits of yoga while practicing seated or standing with chair support. The class will include yoga postures and movements designed for increasing flexibility and strength while reducing tension and improving breath and balance. Safety is emphasized, focusing on correct alignment, body mechanics, and technique. Relax and enjoy an hour of self-care. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and soft footwear. 

Bone Builders Exercise Program - FREE (sponsored by Green Mountain RSVP)
Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:30am with Joanna

Bone Builders is an interactive strength-based exercise program that benefits women and men of all ages. It has been proven to help you build strength, maintain bone density, improve balance, coordination, and mobility, reduce your risk of falling, and help you maintain independence in performing daily life activities. Mat Pilates
Mondays 5:15-6:15pm with Tracey
Wednesdays 9:00-10:00am with Tracey

In this mat Pilates class you will gain strength, coordination and body awareness. Engaging core muscles will allow you to find alignment in your posture to increase mobility, flexibility and strength. Most importantly, you will have fun! All levels are welcome.​

Pilates Barre & Mat
Fridays 9:00-9:45am with Tracey

A combination of mat Pilates and barre, the focus will be on core development as well as leg and hip strengthening. We will use balls and band to increase flexibility, mobility and to strength individual muscles and muscle groups.

Pilates: Cardio Core
Saturdays 9:15-10:15am with Pauline

In this full-body integration Pilates class, you will focus on awareness of your body and moving with the breath. Engaging core muscles will allow you to find alignment in your posture to increase mobility, flexibility and strength. Most importantly, we’ll have fun! All levels are welcome.

Pilates on the Ball with Felicia

Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm

Using the stability ball, we enhance the work of the deep muscles, increasing core strength and balance while exercising the body and mind! This class is hybrid and can be taken remotely. Please contact fitness@arlingtoncommon.org for the registration code.

Chair Optional Flow
An accessible and adaptable flow style yoga class. The chair is a wonderful prop that helps with balance and aids in smooth movement. Practice moving with breath and intention. The class is inspired by functional fitness and strengthening skills that you can take into day to day living. Increase whole body health including strength, flexibility, and balance.

Zumba
You are invited to a dance party! Let your sassy self shine! It's all about having fun and moving your body. Get a full body dance based workout set to world music mixed with some pop favs. Anyone who wants to dance is welcome!

HIIT (high intensity interval training)
Put the pedal to the metal. This workout is made to make you sweat and push your limits. It is a full body workout that balances periods of higher effort with periods of recovery. It is a cardio and strength workout. This class is easily modified in order for you to go at your own pace using a variety of techniques to match your abilities.

Meet Our Teachers

  • Becky Kunnath

    Becky been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching since 2011. She is an E-RYT 500 (Experienced Yoga Teacher, 500 Hour) and 85 hour pre-natal certified.

    Becky is passionate about anatomy and postural alignment and has had the privilege of completing Anatomy for Yoga Teachers with Shanna Linn, Anatomy Trains with Tom Myers and Chain Reaction Mostability® Biomechanics with the Grey Institute.

    In addition to yoga, Becky adores cooking and tending to her veggies and chickens. Becky lives in Manchester, VT with her husband, daughter and two dogs.

  • Jasmine Sachau

    Jasmine grew up in Arlington, relocated to Arizona, and is now returning to the community she grew up in. She has practiced yoga for over 15 years. Yoga is how she processes and celebrates life. The ways that the practice can be used to promote health and wellness have particularly interested her over the years. Her love of teaching drove her to get a 500hr certification. Helping others find the parts of yoga that best serve them brings her the most joy.

  • Kfir Kol

    Kfir was born and raised in Jerusalem. He has been an athlete his entire life and started playing water polo at age 10. From age 15 he played for the Israeli National Team until his enlistment in the Israeli Army. After the army he played and coached for another 10 years.

    In 2016 Kfir started studying Vijnana Yoga with Orit Sen Gupta. After a 3 year course he started teaching yoga in studios as well as privately across Tel-Aviv.

    Kfir began studying mat and reformer pilates with former Batsheva dancer Richard Orbach in 2004. He has been teaching pilates in studios as well as privately in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv for over 15 years.

  • Pam Fletcher

    Pam’s interest in movement began when she was four years old, sitting on a blanket on the floor of a dance studio, watching her mother teach ballet. Over the years, she has spent many hours studying ballet, modern dance, folk dance, t’ai chi and yoga.

    Professionally trained as a physical therapist, Pam has been providing care for more than 30 years, with experience working on physical challenges affecting all ages and all body types. She is also a certified yoga instructor with more than 500 hours of training.

    Pam has developed a broad understanding and expertise of how the human body moves and what its limitations and potential are.

    With compassion and love of movement, Pam enjoys assisting people on how to move their body safely without pain and to realize their own potential and joy of movement.

  • Tracey Diehl

    Tracey Diehl teaches 1M=X Pilates floorwork program ranging from beginner to advanced levels by a series of modifications working toward advanced positions. She will teach you the fundamentals of spinal elongation, forced exhale, pelvic, rib cage, spinal stabilization and choreography using the Pilates ring, individual weights, flex bands and balls. Routines combine elements of strength training with Pilates style exercises to challenge the student in a safe and progressive manner.

  • Emily Dee

    Emily Dee is a 500 RYT who completed her training consecutively at the Heart of the Village Yoga Studio in Manchester, VT. Emily’s teaching style integrates bringing the mind, body and breath into the poses. She believes this creates a space of stillness which connects students with their own true nature. Emily focuses on teaching her students to be in the present moment, be in tune with the breath and find joy in the poses. Emily is grateful to share her knowledge and love of the practices of yoga with the Arlington Community.

  • Pauline Gardner

    Pauline Gardner’s multi-generational classes will upload to your Being Well & Feeling Great account: fun, progressive challenges, and customized personal modifications to make each class a “me-time” with dividends. Pauline brings a 30+ year bright and solid expertise from teaching fitness at New Life destination spa and The Spa at Equinox, her holistic Personal Trainer experience, and from the world class teachers with whom she certified in Pilates, Zumba, Aquacize, and a rich variety of Yoga styles. She loves visiting dear ones near and far, taking classes wherever she travels, being out in Nature all four seasons, and at home in Dorset with hubby, gardens, and fur babies.

  • Felicia Leighton-Ibbotson

    Felicia holds a B.A. in Dance and an M.A. in Dance/Movement Therapy. After over a decade of teaching as a movement educator, her passion for an ever deeper understanding of the moving body led her to complete the STOTT Pilates curriculum and obtain her STOTT Pilates certification. Soon after, she also became certified as a Pelvic Floor Specialist through the Center for Women's Fitness.

    Felicia served her local community with an intimate Pilates studio for over four years, until her desire to serve a wider population, combined with her conviction that understanding the uniqueness of each individual body must be at the foundation of any efforts to improve its function, led her to create ReForm Body Coaching.
